Several avenues for seminars and training are available within the Champaign County community. SCORE and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center are just two of them.

 

Procurement Seminar Presentations

In August 2006 the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with U of I Administration and Departments, held a procurement seminar for businesses to "demystify" how to do business with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The "How to Do Business with the U of I" event was so popular a second seminar was conducted in the same month to accommodate the overflow of businesses unable to attend the first one.

The seminar was designed to help business owners and managers:

  • Identify the types of external services the U of I uses;

  • Understand what services and products qualify for a bid process;

  • How to respond to a Request for Proposal (RFP);

  • How to find out when the U of I releases an RFP;

  • Where to seek help in completing the RFP paperwork;

  • How to become a certified vendor with the State of Illinois.
