Event Description:
Employment of healthcare occupations is projected to grow 18 percent from 2016 to 2026, adding about 2.4 million new jobs across the U.S. Discover a new path, a new career, and new skills as a medical biller and coder. Learn the vital role in the connection between health care providers, patients, and insurance companies by reading patient charts to determine medical history, including diagnoses and treatments given. Based on the charts, you’ll use a set of learned and established medical codes in order to transcribe patient history into a type of shorthand that will be used by both health care providers and insurance companies.

Other topics include: 
•An overview of healthcare and insurance industries
•The organization and use of the ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS manuals to identify correct codes
•Detailed review and practice using the alphabetic index and tabular list of the ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and practice coding examples within the CPT
•Basic claims processes for medical insurance and third-party reimbursements
•Completing common insurance forms, tracing delinquent claims, and appealing denied claims
•ICD-10-CM overview

All textbooks are included in the class fee.
