Energy Co-Op

 

By harnessing the power of "bulk" purchasing, the Chamber energy cooperative provides Chamber members with long term budget stability and eliminates the volatility of the market for companies. The cooperative program allows us to obtain better electricity and natural gas prices collectively than any one company can do individually.

Fighting Illini Energy is the official electricity partner of the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and the only electricity partner of Illinois Athletics. By pooling together the aggregate amount of electricity that our members are using along with FIE's wholesale expertise and strength of credit allows FIE to provide a great cost savings to our members. Pooling the efforts leads to better pricing for all members that participate. Entering into a FIE contract will be a seamless transition. The only change you will see is a bill from Fighting Illini Energy when you make the switch.

 

On average, the Chamber members participating in the Chamber cooperative program are saving 15 percent on their electricity supply.

Timeline for the upcoming cooperative round:

May 1 -  Is your deadline to have your bills at chamber office (copy of your February and March electric bills)
May 30 - Contracts with pricing emailed to all co-op participants. Deadline to return executed contract is 5:00 pm Friday, June 1
Sept 1 -  New contracts with Fighting Illini Energy start date. 

The deadline to sign up for the Chamber's next electricity co-op round is Tuesday, May 30 at 5:00 pm. (This applies ONLY to Chamber members who have expiring contracts in 2012 that have not yet executed a new contract AND members who are still using Ameren as their default provider.

It's only 7 steps to start saving money on your electricity:

1.       Download the registration forms from our website (see above)

2.        Make a copy of each of your February and March electric bills

3.        Follow and complete the checklist form

4.        Sign and date the Chamber waiver

5.        Return the bills, the checklist and the waiver to the Chamber at 303 W. Kirby Avenue by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 1.

6.        Wait for the contract offer 

7.        Upon contract offer, accept or reject the offer based on what is best for you company
